The Crockmeter 418 gives a quick, accurate way to determine the amount of colour transferred by rubbing from textiles (fabric, carpet, yarn, leather) to other surfaces; it is also used for rub, scuff and mar tests on flat specimens and for smudge and smear resistance of printed images. A hand crank moves a reciprocating arm with a 16 mm acrylic “finger” over about 100 mm with a constant 9 N load and a mechanical cycle counter. Wet and dry tests.
