Taber Falling Sand Tester 820

The Model 820 measures the resistance of paints, lacquers and other organic coatings to abrasion: abrasive particles fall through a guide tube onto the specimen until the substrate becomes visible. It consists of an 8 in reservoir with a 60° funnel, a 36 in straight smooth-bore guide tube, a specimen receptacle at 45° and a collection container; silica sand and silicon carbide are the most popular abradants.
